Sequoia Healthcare District Welcomes New Board Member
Sequoia Healthcare District is proud to welcome our newest board member as of January 15, 2020, Rafael Avendaño Diaz. As the Director of Siena Youth Center in Redwood City, Rafael brings 15 years of experience providing healthy, enriching programs for youth and families.
Upon esteemed board member Kathleen Kane’s retirement from 26 years of service, the District was left with large shoes to fill. In the search for a new board member, it quickly became clear that Rafael’s passion for developing and managing health and wellness programs in the local community of Redwood City would be a great asset to the Board.
Being an educator and a North Fair Oaks resident of unincorporated Redwood City, Rafael “is aware of not just the good work that is happening but also challenges that still exist.” Rafael is proud to have made a positive impact on his community. He explains, “The Siena Youth Center has transformed a Redwood City community into a tight-knit, homely neighborhood where neighbors are friends.” Prior to his work at Siena Youth Center, Rafael directed programs for the Boys and Girls Club, and coordinated programs for Team Up for Youth in San Leandro.
Staff and Board Members look forward to the year ahead and continuing to improve health of District residents. To learn more about Sequoia Healthcare District programs, visit seqhd.org.
