Sequoia Healthcare District is committed to improving the health of District residents by enhancing access to care and promoting wellness through responsible stewardship of District taxpayer dollars.

Our Vision is for all District residents to experience optimal physical and mental health at every stage of life.

We pledge to return to the community 100% of the tax revenue in health-related programs and services.

At the Sequoia Healthcare District we value innovation and creative solutions to addressing health issues. We have demonstrated that commitment not only by financially supporting great community health projects and outstanding service providers but by also developing and managing our own signature health programs.

Our Programs

Sequoia Healthcare District has been a leader in developing and supporting innovative health care programs for the residents of central and southern San Mateo County. Some of these programs have been developed and are managed by District staff. Other programs have been developed by our government and non–profit partners and in those cases, Sequoia Healthcare District serves as a financial sponsor and appear below as “major funding initiatives.”

Healthy Schools Initiative

Our Healthy Schools Initiative provides funding for school programs to support the health and well-being of our local school communities. 

Sequoia Strong™

We’ve grown stronger stronger! Sequoia Strong™ (formerly 70 Strong) is now your FREE personal resource guide to healthy living for ALL ages in southern San Mateo County. 

Living Healthy

Living Healthy workshops offer techniques and support for feeling better and making the best choices for your health and well-being.

HeartSafe

The HeartSafe program provides CPR classes and places life-saving equipment such as AEDs and Lucas Devices in the community.

Major Funding Initiatives

SHD’s Major Funding Initiatives  are Ravenswood Family Health Center and Samaritan House Redwood City Clinic.

Our Grants

The District’s Caring Community Grants fund the work of more than 50 nonprofits to provide various health services to more than 32,000 resident. The Healthy Schools Initiative Grants fund the work of a multitude of nonprofits to provide services to more than 28,000 students with mental health counseling, physical fitness and nutrition education, and other prevention and early intervention programs.
